This is my frank and candid feedback about our stay ( me and my wife ) in Majorda Beach Resort from 4th August 2007 to 8th August 2007.This is my second visit to Majorda and this visit was not a satisfactory one at all. I have the following observations:
There was no water sports available due to heavy rains. We got to know about it only after we reached there. It was a surprise for us, we staying in a 5 star resort and we not getting an advance information was a serious put off.
Appy Fizz was provided as a welcome drink in place of a natural drink. (This is a very minor feedback but try giving a natural fruit juice and get a feedback from the customer :-) ).
The courtesy of the bell desk staff was very good.
Availability of good coffee is a big problem in Majorda. The only thing that can helped was the coffee saches in the rooms. Coffee saches being included in Mini bar chargeable menu was a put off. Well I do not expect a full fledged coffee parlour in a place like Goa (Try Orange County Coorg, 7:30 AM to 9:00 PM free coffee of all kinds ) but availability of good coffee would have been appreciated.
We landed on 4th August 2007 in Majorda resort. We being vegetarians, options for us was really bad. The same day, lunch and dinner was horrible. We brought it to the notice of the Restaurant Manager Mr.Vincent. He was courteous and offered us a meal of our choice to our room, we politely denied it. The food problem got corrected in the next three days. We had fabulous options in our menu. Use of coconut oil was very evident.
The room service was sluggish. We asked for bath mats, it took half a day to receive the same.
Paid usage of Squash , Tennis and pool table courts was a put off. They should be offered free. Please let me know what could be wrong if it is offered free.
A cockroach was seen in our bath room. My wife said "Wow, what a five star resort, do you want a repeat", I said no ways....
Stuff like Kurkure, Lays and other stuff should be available as free bies and not as a part of Mini bar. Please do not mix the same. ( In Orange County, free bies included fruit basket, chocalates and cookies of a high quality. )
The bread breakfast didnt have a wide selection of breads. Please visit Golden Palms and try "Banana Bread" and "Turmeric Bread". I guess a wider range was available when I came to Majorda in August 2004.
The bus quality for sight seeing tour wasnt good. It was a bit suffocating inside an AC bus. AC was a must as it was raining heavily.
The bus was used for the next days shopping trip, the bus was not cleaned. We could see the floor of the bus wet as it was in the previous evening.
The shopping trip didnt include any guidance ( I dont expect a guide for the same though ). We had to search for the markets in Madgao city. I enjoyed it though, a small amount guidance would have been a value add.
The quality of Dosas can be improved. It wasnt all that good. I should compliment the omlettes there, they were very good. I freaked out on them.
The last day the lunch was not a part of our package. We had to check out of the room at 12:00 PM itself and had to wait till 3:00 PM for an airport transfer. The Restaurant Manager offered to have lunch at a discounted rate, we politely refused as we wanted to try out something in a local hotel outside.
We stepped into a local Chinese hotel "Shangrilla" in the vicinity of the resort. We ordered "Sweet Corn Soup" and believe me no soup of Majorda matched the quality. The fried rice was also good.
At the end of the day it wasnt a very star like experience in a five star resort of Majorda. I may not come back to Majorda even during the season when water sports are on, I may think about a very different kind of trip to Goa. Probably a budget hotel, local food and hired transportation. Please include "self drive" cars/bikes, it will be a value add.
