How about having a delicious and authentic North Indian meal, delivered at your door step. The food, warm and tempting, which you can enjoy in the comfort of your home. Yes, there may be quite a good no. of restaurants providing this service, but I doubt anyone would compare with MAKKHAN SINGH, a delivery outlet in Powai, taming the rats running wild in our tummies with great Punjabi and Chinese dishes.
I tried their food, a couple of days back and I still would love some more of it. I ordered a complete meal, right from yummy starter, to a tasty dessert and later have out a burp of satisfaction.
So the lunch menu started of with, CHEESE PANEER TIKKA. Cottage cheese chunks, the kind you would expect in any paneer tikka dish, but with a tasty twist. It had a mild garlic and cheesy taste, something new and much needed improvement to the standard starter we have been eating for ages. The colourful bell peppers were not just for appealment ( Yay! Looks like I invented a new word! ), but being stir fried in butter, they too carry good flavour.
Now the main course consisted of KOFTA BHUNA MASALA, BUTTER CHICKEN and SUBZ DUM BIRYANI, half portions ofcourse, so then I can indulge myself in the deliciousness of every dish! It also had 3 warm tandoori rotis, but there was an issue with packing. The rotis, packed warm in the sliver foil packet lose heat in the form of steam, and since they found themselves in that packet, directly form the tandoor they lost that heat inside the packet itself, which turned to water, making the rotis a bit watery. Sorry for this mild physics lesson, but the conclusion is a humble suggestion for the management to look into this matter.
The sabjis, namely Kofta Bhuna Masala in veg and spicy section, where as for the chicken lover in me ordered Butter Chicken which has a mild sweet flavour.
I absolutely loved the veg dish. Whenever you hear the word kofta, the first thing that we think about is sweet, which is totally wrong. Kofta Bhuna Masala is as spicy as it can get, atleast for me. Finely minced veggies, lip-smacking spicy masala and yummy kofta balls made this my favourite dish of the meal. Surly recommended.
Butter chicken was not bad either. Creamy sweet and smooth textured gravy, with a decent amount of chicken pieces. Not the softest chicken I had, but sure had a good flavour to it, thanks to the rich gravy.
Form the department of rice, as I mentioned I had SUBZ DUM BIRYANI, and the most intrigueing thing about it was its presentation. Served in an earthen pot, and covered properly with dough, its the best way to ensure that the biryani gets properly heated form all sides, and the flavour of the masala are evenly distributed as well. They dont call it DUM Biryani for nothing. The taste, just like the presentation, was great. My room got filled with the aroma when I cracked open the dough-lid. It still was quite hot, and I really enjoyed it. A great package for rice lovers.
To end the meal in desi style, ditching the ever so tempting cheesecake option, I went for GULAB JAMUN. Soft and yummy, these words complete the description of them.
A great option when you feel the north indian craving, but also dont want to leave the luxury of your beloved bed! Delicious Punjabi and Chinese food is just a call away! Next time, cant wait to dig in their Asian preparations ( and the cheesecake as well! )
Happy Burping!
