OBJECTIVE:- Get out of Pune for a quick weekendbreak where all the members of family including my 1.5 yrs old kid could enjoy well.
Route from Pune:-
Pune - Malshejgat: Pune-Chakan-Narayangaon-Take left from Poonam Hotel in Narayan gaon to Malshej ghat
Malshejghat-Pune: NH255 - MalshejGhat-Alphuta and then NH50(Nashik-Pune) road towards Pune( this route is much better)/
Weather:
We were a bit apprehensive for "value for money" factor about this trip. We didnt book MTDC online as occupancy was < 20%.We reached there at 11am and checked for the resort, delux rooms and standard rooms. Std rooms looked good to us. 900+ taxes. Checkout time 1200 noon.
Evening: As the evening approaced we went out for the view point toward for a walk . The sunset was really good - enough to erode away thevalue for money thought. As the night fall, the weather became more pleasant.
Morning: Morning was foggy.Nothing was visiblie till 0700am and thats looked like a perfect hill station - even in summers! There is a dam very near to the resort. The mountain and water was covered with mist such that the horizon was invisible. And thats what a SLR user always looking for.
Food:- MTDC resturant is the only option but its really good. I would suggest to take your own drinks /yoghurt/fruits/milk and use the MTDC refrigerator(no issues).

Tips for Phographers:-
One of the best time to hone your "sunset plus mist plus sparkling water" combination skills. Checkout for the dam scene - around 0600-0700 am. Once of the best place to take picture of your life.
Overall, back in Pune I feel the trip was value for money.
Suggestions-
Pune visitors may also want to book a vineyard show at Ivy(Narayangaon, Nashik-Pune Road) which requires two days prior booking.
Also take some necessary medicines.
