It was my first official picnic (thru my company). There were around 100 of us. And we were just looking to freak out. Believe me, we did!!
We stayed at a beautiful place owned by a doctor. Small cottages, a river flowing by the side, heavenly food. All these just added to the cool climate and serene atmosphere.
We took a trip to the Ghats, which were just fantastic, it being the rainy season. The fantastic scenery has to be seen to be believed. And on top of it all, at the cottage, the doctors friends came over at night, and we all got together for a fantastic musical evening. WOW!!
MTDC has a nice place here. The stay here would cost you less then 500 per day. It is better to travel by a hired or your own vehicle so that you can enjoy the journey properly. Take your driver along. You can also go by ST buses, but I wouldnt recommend that.
Take care on weekends. The crowds are huge, rowdy, and drunk. Go in a large group and make sure the ladies are with you. It is not so ominous as I make it out to be, but precaution is better than cure. If you are going as a small group, go on weekdays.
There are some places to visit nearby. The best time to go is undoubtedly the rainy season. Read cuchillos review. It is more detailed. But anyway, the place is worth going to.
