Superman Returns(2006) was a pathetic movie and compared to it, Man of Steel is pure gold.
With Zack Snyder of 300 fame at the helm and captivating special effects, the movie has power to draw the attention.
But trying to ape the success of the Batman films with a dark theme, this film fails with the plot. In a nutshell, it’s boring, a film with such extraordinary subject matter is boring! Even the scenes with awesome effects are hampered by flashy camera moves and snazzy cuts.
Henry Cavill gave a strong though stiff performance as Clark Kent but the best role in the movie is Michael Shannon who excellently portrays the ruthless villain, General Zod.
Overall, this version is way better than’Superman Returns’ but still not as great as a Superman movie can and should be.
