Manaivi - mix of all old movies

’Manaivi’ started out as ’Vani Rani’. Now, it looks like the reverse of ’Aasai’ and ’Vaali’ but only thing is here it is the female who lusts after her own sister’s husband. All said and done, the plot is disgusting.

Kausalya in dual role has not done anything to show the difference between the two sisters - except in the way they dress! Her acting (or lack of) irritates us no end.

It is hard to believe that an effeminate character like Ramani has two women pining after him.

One Kausalya is so cruel that she (alongwith another villain) beats up her own sister so that she loses her unborn baby and eventually has to have her uterus removed. She even sabotages her business by taking away all the money impersonating as her sister.

The side story of Rohini who runs away from home with her lover is also unbelievable. She falls into the hands of a bad policeman and trusts him a lot. Even afer her orthodox parents find her, they still let her continue to live with the policeman. Normally, one would expect the parents to take back their daughter and go home. But these weird parents let their unmarried daughter live with a widower and think nothing of it, but they don’t want her to marry her lover!

Delhi Ganesh’s superb acting is the only saving grace in this serial.

’Manaivi’ has just passed its 200th episode and already it is full of holes that it looks like Swiss cheese. CJB has to do better than this to increase his rating.
