First words I wanna deliver before the review are Dont judge the songs of this album on the first or second listen
Really surprised how rahman brings out so much variety in every album. The last one was Bose where it was all patriotic but classical western. Now this album all those Indian rhythms and sounds.Fabulous job.
Mangal Mangal song is a folky styled rustic periodic song that grabs your senses on the first listen. This song comes in three styles (normal, agni and aatma), each stands out in its own style.
Mai Vari Vari is also a treat to hear.I was really attracted by the yeh rishtaa girls voice and obviously kk too.The tabla and the sarangi works are too good to be a hit amidst commercial masses.
Rasiya, the song which became numero uno in my heart after a couple of hearings. The strings stir your soul and the song is seductive and really haunting.
The rhythms and the feel of the rustic seduction reaches your heart as soon as the song starts.Lovely!!!
Takey Takey.this song philosophical though not rendered orthodox by sukhvinder quite comfortable to listen with and the stuff I liked the most in the song was Rahmans kids choir. So cute and cool.
Al MaddathA new dimension in sufi music.Rahmans pious soulful voice and music rocks your heart and soul.Another Zikr nbut not the same.Great!!!
The only thing rahman should have avoided is the use of his own loops as in daud and nayak. But this hardly matters when a soulful musical composition rocks your heart.
A formidable point for other Music directors of this age is the bringing of Nativity in the songs that makes you find the location , era and situation of the song and rahman is wonderful at this point. No match.
