A recent alarming experience at Manipal Hospital

My dad has been a regular patient at Manipal and I really appreciate the team of doctors there for their dedication and commitment. They had consistently worked on getting my dad through a very complicated surgery, treatment and the adverse effects.

However, when my dad was hospitalized recently on 1st Jan 2016, (again thanks to the doctors for their prompt help in initiating it which helped us save our dad), unfortunately, I had to undergo a very bad experience which made me pledge that I would not want to be treated in this hospital because of the alarming behavior of the staff.

During my dad’s discharge after hospitalization on 7th Jan 2016, I had asked for a cash receipt of the amount paid since I intended to submit it to my insurance company for reimbursement. Although on other occasions, the cashiers had been very co-operative, this time the cashier was hell-bent to shoo me off saying to pick it up the next day. After some running around, I had to raise my voice since their behavior and callousness was getting on my nerves. The security head then came from nowhere and started threatening me that he will throw me out. He, even got a few of her women security personnel who literally started manhandling me. I had to have quite a scuffle and then got to complain to their MOD(Customer Relationship) who got me the receipt from the cashier and also promised to take action.

I had filed a written complaint on the same day for this atrocity(though they concocted an excuse and did not give me a copy of the same). I did get a call from the Customer Care Admin the next morning(on 8th Jan 2016) who promised me a speedy investigation and also to get back to me with the outcome. Till date, I have not received any further correspondence from them.

I would actually advise everyone to be very careful with the Manipal Hospital staff(especially a very few office staff and the security personnel) who could go to any limit to prove their point and their threshold might even start threatening your well-being. So, though I highly recommend their doctors, I would leave it up to your discretion on whether you would want to visit the hospital where there is the chance to encounter such unpleasant and alarming situations.
