Choose Manipal at your own risk

Choose Manipal North Side Hospital only if you want to risk your life!

My wife underwent a surgery 2 days ago at MNSH and we had a horrible time:

1) The nurse did not know how to handle the injection properly - most of the medicine from the syringe splashed on patient’s face!

2) The needle inserted for drips was not placed well - my wife was bleeding at that position for several minutes!

3) One "senior staff nurse" was highly intelligent enough to write another patient’s details in my wife’s file!. Thank God, some one noticed it and changed it!

4) Once the procedure was done, I was handed over with two plastic container bottles with samples for biopsy - the containers were not sealed properly and the sample was leaking. I gave it back to a nurse asking her to fix the leakage - no one attended to it for nearly 30 minutes!. I was worried that the sample might leak away completely. The leakage was fixed only after I followed up a couple of times. Is it not their duty to double check for leaks before handing over the samples? The nurse were lethargic to fix the problem even after I reported it. I just hated them to the core!. They are just behind your money - the hospital should be renamed as "Money Pal" and not Manipal.

5) Have you ever heard of a hospital where nurses listen to music on their cell phone(with loudspeaker ON) inside the pre-operative ward? It happens only at MNSH

6) The staff show no empathy for patients. When patients go to them with several sufferings the nurses’ behavior is completely immature & childish. As a patient’s attender watching their behavior throughout the day, they only made me feel less confident about their capacity to take care of my beloved one

7) The new building looks hygenic, but the nurses are not trained to stay hygenic - a nurse carrying a new born baby on her left hand was waiting for the lift - she used her right hand to adjust her shoes and you know what - she touched the new born baby’s nose(to remove some dried up stuff) with the same DIRTY hand - does she not have any common sense that the new born should not be touched with dirty hands?

8) You will be shocked to know that the new building does not have a toilet for outpatients & attendants. We were asked to use a very unhygenic public toilet. The excuse they gave was that the new building is under construction and hence this inconvenience. I can not accept this at all. Would they ask their consulting doctors to use public toilet? Would they ask their staff to use public toilet? Would the medical director or whoever holds the highest position in the hospital use public toilet? This only clearly shows that they did not care for the patient & their attendants - they only want our money, but not provide even a hygenic toilet in their premises. If they were more concerned about their patients and attendants, they would have made at least one toilet available to them.

9) They took 2.5 hours to prepare our bill. The patient had to wait longer despite the pain already undergone due to the surgery. When I asked few clarifications at the bill desk, the reply was so harsh - I have all rights to know why I am asked to pay money for some category - They should have adequate staff to explain the bill to me - they can not rob money from patients just like that.

10) At last we got discharged and returned back home. Someone calls up from the hospital the next day morning stating that they had "forgotten" to hand over a couple of reports. So, I went back to the hospital to collect the pending reports - my wife’s reports were clubbed with someone else’s file and the nurse did not even bother to check it - she just handed over the file to me "as-is" and disappeared. Fortunately, I noticed that someone else’s report was handed over to me and I gave them back - what if I had gone home without checking that properly? Is it hospital’s responsibility to hand over proper reports(or) patient’s responsibility to verify them? What if someone else had picked up my wife’s report and gone back home(say to a place outside Bangalore) - does the hospital expect them to travel back to Bangalore and hand over other patients’ report?

Overall, the hospital is LEAST caring for you - Choose it at your own risk.
