The best part about making a biopic is that the story - an extended version, at least - is already out there. The way it is adapted for a 2-hour long Bollywood film is where the real struggle lies. Director Ketan Mehta takes on the mountain-high project of depicting on film Dashrath Manjhis life in Manjhi The Mountain Man. And he succeeds only in parts. Because in order to make a biographical film, the real hitch is filtering out the most interesting snippets from the persons life. The story of Dashrath Manjhi, as is common knowledge by now, is one of determination, patience and pure grit. This labourer from Gehlorevillage near Gaya, Bihar, hammer-chisel-ed down an entire mountain because it stood as an obstacle in his way to the nearest hospital in Wazirpur. And, as the man puts across his reason to break the mountain down, Yeh ghav bahut gehri hai( This wound is very deep) . Manjhis wife died after she fell off the mountain and couldnt be taken to the hospital in time.
