Time and again it proves that off-beat movies are successful in the screens. As said, Manmadhan is one of those off-beat movies which is fresh in this season in all aspects of a movie.
As most of the review describes, undoubtedly Manmadhan tinges the story line of the erstwhile blockbuster-thriller Sigappu Rojakkal. However Manmadhan is different and fresh for the present audience.
As the movie ends with a slide A film by R. Silambarasan, its Silambarasan a.k.a Simbu, the man who is the kernel of the movie. It seems the movie director Muruhan played a passive role in direction, leaving space for Simbu to train his guns as a director. In effect, we might expect movies to follow with tag Direction by R. Silambarasan in the future.
Well, Manmadhan is a well crafted story that has all neccessary ingredients for a commerical sex-thriller. As a person Simbu demonstrates his ability to perform dual roles skillfully. In particular, he deserves a big applause for the village boy role. He does it with the essential village boy nuances. This apart, Simbu would be the only actor in Tamil cinema to be blessed to act with all popular actresses(Mandira Bedi, Yana Gupta, Jyothika and Sindu Thulani) in just one movie. After all the movie demands, could be a subtle reason.
In the actresses queue up, only Jyothika is left to live till the end of movie. So, you could see some chocolate-girl performances from Jyothika which she has done in several movies before.
After Simbu, its two guys who score the best in Manmadhan. First its Chinna Ilayaraja, Yuvan Shankar Raja. Almost all the songs are good and in specific, Kaadhal Valarthen is the best of all. Yuvan uses Violin expeditiously to score the BGM all through the film. Its the simple and robust formula which was adapated by Ilayaraja in all his blockbusters. Second comes, the Cinematographer Rajasekar. It seems this is the first tamil film to use Digital Intermediate technology all through the film. Rajasekar has done a commendable job which is prominent in the movie.
Among Kounda Mani and Sagalai Sandhanam(Vijay TV fame), Sagalai Sandanam scores high as a comedian in the movie. We can expect Sagalai Sandhanam to catch up with Silver screen in large, in the nearest future.
Here comes the warning, Manmadhan has some little high dosage of obscenity. So, necessary care may be taken if you intend to watch the movie with your childrens.
I cant close without a mention of the theater. Yes, I watched this movie in the Indias largest multiplex theater, PVR Cinemas, in Bangalore. Undoubtedly its the best in its class, very professional and you naturally tend to feel as if you are in a corporate office. So is the kind of maintenance and service. I wish they continue to tender the same quality of service for ever!!!
So, enjoy watching good movies in theatres!!!
