MANORAMA

Manorama 6 feet under..the name itself has u imagining mystery deaths & secretive body disposal methods. manorama a self proclaimed black comedy, does surely have a black mood thru out, it also has subtle & good situational humour. Hayts off to the near perfect casting - panag as nimmi, the very middle class housewife whom we see everyday in & around our homes. deol as rathore is good. Abhay has managed to maintain a restrained tone of performance thru his previous movie, 1.40 ki last local.

He is fast turning out to be the multiplex champ. despite having a reasonably decent deol physique, he manages to put that behind & bring his characters posture or stance forward. he does manage to convince u that he is a loser pwd junior engineer. Vinay pathak, again does his job well, a perfect corrupt sub inspector cum advising saala (brother-in-law). though I am not very sure if he got the accent right. he does however, again manage to get an interesting opening scene. Rathore’s nosy neighbor deserves a special mention. The gentleman though with only a total 5min screen life, does get etched in ur memory long after u pull out of the theatre parking lot. raima looks gorgeous & inviting enough as the ministers esc*rt. though I heard she had some issues regarding the costumes she had in the opening scenes. Mr.Kharbanda is a veteran & adds weight to the entire performance of the movie.

His 2 cronies bring to life the small town goondaism very well. A twisty turned plot with its varied characters all interlinked to each other & seemingly pointing to the very obvious, surprise u at the end. All in all a very watchable affair, but does in some parts seem like the memory games one used to play trying to remember/relate all the characters with their sub-plots. am willing to give 5 grants to anyone who can watch it once & write down the plot on a piece of paper. but yes, in the need we do need to support cinema like this because in the desert or infact anywhere in the world today " nothing is as I t seems".
