Living for and with the past.

Dr Brian Weiss- Author of Only love is real.

Many Lives, Many Masters.

The true story of a prominent psychiatrist, his young patient and the past life therapy that changed both of their lives.

Almost three months back, I started on a book called Alchemist - by Paul Cohelo. I immediately liked it and wanted to write a review that never surfaced. The Alchemist ( a wonderfully written parable) is all about finding your destiny. After reading the book my beliefs regarding the purpose of all lives were strengthened. Only one should wait for the right time. Normally I read books having some significant popularity. However last week I went in to buy O Jerusalem and was unsuccessful in my search. Instead I bought Dr Brian’s Many lives , Many masters. I am impressed with my choice and at the same times amazed with the timing and resemblance of my thoughts related to this book and the Alchemist.

The plot:

Psychiatrist Dr Brian meets a young patient in need of help. Since long Catherine has been suffering from recurring nightmares and chronic anxiety attacks. When his traditional methods of therapy failed, Dr Brian turned to hypnosis and was amazed and doubtful when Catherine began recalling past-life traumas which seemed to hold the key to her problems.

Dr Brians doubts were removed when Catherine began to channel messages from the space between her previous lives. All in all she claimed ( which stands true) in her hypnotic state she had take re-birth eighty six times. During various hypnotic sessions, Dr Brian, gradually goes through the various pahses of her previous lives. In time he is able to understand, that Cathy was acting as a medium to pass on the message. Catherine revealed many secrets of live after death and also about the various Masters: controllers of physical and spiritual life. During each hypnotic session Catherine goes back to a previous life and relates an important event ( traumatic or happy) of her life.

After all such sessions she magically overcomes her fears and anxieties associated with the present life. Ultimately Dr Brian understands that all the encrypted messages are for him, Catherine was just a medium to impart the messages of the masters. This is a great book based on a true story. It explains that there is much more than just the physical being. It emphasizes that even after death we continue to grow. In fact after death the spirit gets renewed.

I like this book because it does not claim or enforce its views. The story in the book provides important information about the mind, which though a part of the physical being is yet very complicated, as in the hypnotic state it reveals the past life experience. (not true for everyone). Many of us may not understand or agree with the after/before life subjec, but Dr Brian simply projects the truth with the real life example. The book is subjective and also meant for specific audience.

The scenes and the facts at times are chilly. However it is a great book. The language is simple. The reasoning is astonishing. Go for it.

Though Dr Brain does not say that all psychics around the world are doing a fine job ( he recommends that one should be beware of frauds) the book also hints the scope of studying and research on these lines. As it may be used as a sort of healer/medicine. -

Excerpts from the book.

’ Patience and timing----everything comes when it must come----Everything will be closer to you in time.’ ’

As I gradually accepted and belived the messages, my life life became simpler and more satisfying. There was no need to play games, to pretend, to act out roles, or to be other than what I was. Relationships became more honest and direct.’

Though not related with the present subject, I am reminded of a quote:

All that spirits desire, spirits ATTAIN!
