The question is not of countering Mark Waugh. the other player who had hit a ton at the Pune one dayer. I am not a Critic of the game and neither I am good at it. I just watch the game out of the sheer joy I get from it. Seeing Mark Waugh didn’t pain my patriotic feelings neither was I disappointed, but on the other hand I was overwhelmed on seeing the brilliant innings. But what did pain me was the unsupportive play that Indian players on the other hand shown. Badani was handling one hand so beautifully but found no good partner to stick on to the other side. Ganguly failed, Sachin couldn’t take off, but what about Dravid and Laxman , what was the urging need to get run out. Seeing the score card I could only make out that the Indian batsmen had helped the Australian bowlers in limiting themselves to a score of 248.
The question is not of countering Mark Waugh any more but a more daunting task in front of us is to have an Indian Cricket team which is at least half as reliable as the Australian cricket team in terms of CONSISTENCY.
Badani showed a Game of CLASS today but the support was all lacking.
The hopes won’t die I will wait for the day when my Indian team will be on the top of this world but I will wish as well, that, that day will again see two centuries, one from us and one from our opponents but it will be us who will be the winners.
