I feel like a lifes journey is done with my car:)
I brought my car in Jan 2005. I am a simple, down to earth fellow, more interested in saving money than showing off. I was afraid of driving bike in Bangalore, so went for a cheapest car - mine is 800 with AC.
I use this car for almost everything - pick people from airport to home, and back, cramp it with people, (at one point we had 8 people riding in it, including 2 children). My daily use is to and from my office. Also we used this car during our long trip to Udupi - 5 people, luggage in the backside, one small luggage piece in every bodys lap, and more luggage tied to the top carrier - a full load.and I drove it on the highway with this load at 105 Kmph!(well, I admit it was a downward slope road hehehehe)
Well, the car survived all that, in the last 2 years it required a spark plug replacement. There was a crash with a BMTC bus, which backed into my car, costing me the front left door, at Rs 7000, claimed for insurance. Other than that it cost me almost nil. This is the best part - zero maintenance.
For whatever others say, I love my car. and now I am thinking of bigger cars, because I have a kid now, I dont want to leave my 800 - I want to keep it as well as the new car, whatever it is.
It has given a cool milage, I usually leave early for office, and leave early from office too, so I am getting almost 300 Kms per 1000 bucks - close to 15 Kmpl, in the city. I use the AC very less. It can bend around the corners like no others, could go through the narrow roads in Udupi district - the driver we had hired in that trip told me - only 800 and omni could go through these roads. Even crossed a narrow bridge meant for pedestrians and bikes!
Since I havent driven many other cars, I cant compare with them, anyway, what is there to compare?
I love my maruti:)
