In 1986, I rode one of my friends Maruthi-800 and decided to have one. in 1987 I bought a Maruthi-800 Deluxe (with A/C, Stereo, Carpets, Leather seats & Mud Flaps.etc as standard). It has not given me any major problem even after 21 years. .
These Maruthis were considers as "Zero Defect" vehicles. I am very happy with this vehicle and still hanging on to it.I am using it for my daily chores and find it very convenient on Bangalore roads.
I had been travelling between Bangalore and Kerala and Had regularly recorded fuel consumption of 22 Km/litr. with A/C on. Even I have achieved an instantaneous fuel consumption figures of 34 Km/Litr. on ver ycool Bangalore nights very frequently.I had been using A Zemco fuel management computer for checking the milage.
The brakes are very powerful and feels positive when compared to later model Maruthi-800s.( Even agreed by some of the dealers) which feels slightly spongy.
