Hi, I am using Maruti Alto LXI since end June 09.I have driven the car about 5000 km during this time.The car is very good given the value for money proposition.I have got substantial discounts/ free Insurance and Exchange Bonus etc.I am quite happy with the deal from Fairdeal Motors, Delhi.
Pros:
1) Very good car in limited budget.No wonder this is the largest selling car today which sells about 25000 units per month on an All-India basis.Maruti 800 in its heydays never touched these volumes(inspite of being common man’s car)
2) Mileage is about 15 km/ltr in Delhi City and about 17.5 km /ltr in highways with reasonable use of AC(presently driven 5000 km).Shud give a mileage of about 16 km in City and 19 km in Highways after say 10000 kms.This is very good fuel Economy
3) Power Steering is very smooth and responds very well.
4) AC is very powerful and chills in scorching sun(This is perhaps the best part of this budget car).Alto AC is much much better than Maruti 800 inspite of both of them having 800 CC engines.
5) Acceleration is quite good after car reaches a speed of 40 km.Gear movement is good and the car takes 5th gear at speeds of 50-55 km.That’s very good and fuel mileage can be improved by putting the car in 5th gear at speeds of 55 km
6)Car is good in design and is the best looking budget car(A and B segment)
7)Car is highly reliable and comes with the backing of Maruti Sales and Service and Warranty.
8)The car has very low maintenance costs and hence very low on total ownership costs
9)Lastly the resale value of the car is very high, as very few customers are willing to sell the product in 3-4 years time span.This is the most important criterion apart from performance while making a buying decision for a car.This means most customers are satisfied with the product.
10)Headlamps very clear and powerful in a car of its size and capacity
11) Suspension very good;handles bad roads adequately
Cons:
1) Power and torque is low due to 800 CC engine.Pick up takes time in short distance
2) Seats not at all comfortable
3) Leg space not adequate in rear seats.
4) Not comfortable for long rides.
5)Power drops when AC is switched ON.
However given the overrall package of VFM/ Chill AC/Low fuel consumption alongwith low ownership costs and high resale, this product is a winner.Anyone looking for a car within 3 lacs shud buy this product eyes closed.Pearl Silver looks great in Alto! Put a rear spoiler for great looks!Happy Motoring!
