I bought this car 6 months back. And have been using it
for daily commute to office. Before I bought this car, I didnt know
driving. So I learnt driving using my Alto.
The new alto looks far more appealing than the old one. The new
face lift (especially the front grill and headlights) really adds
glamour to it. I was just waiting for this facelift. I knew that 800,
Omni, Wagon R all got minor enhancements. Alto was the last to
get this treatment. They have done a fantastic job on this. There are
other minor enhancements as well. The rotary AC switches really looks
good. On to the instrument console, I would have liked to have two
meters, one for the speed and the other one for RPM indicator. Right
now it has one big meter for the speed.
The seats are really good when compared to 800. Yes, I have driven
800 as well. Actually I dont have any big complaint after 6 months
of driving it. It is pure pleasure to drive.
The only bad thing about the car (if I can say that), is that pick up
becomes sluggish when the AC is on. For the 800cc engine, powering
the car and AC becomes quite a job. Hence most of the time, I drive
the car without AC. Without AC in city traffic conditions, it returns
a 15 kms per litre of petrol. Am sure it shold touch ~20 on highways.
This translates to ~ 47miles per gallon of petrol.
To put in summary, to me it is one of the best good looking Indian cars.
And a Great Value for money.
