Hi everyone, i took 3 test drives on the alto K10.
One in Kozhikode(calicut) , 2nd in kalpetta (wayanad), 3rd at yelanka (bangalore)
So I tested the car in all the 3 places....City driving, high terrain (for the odd holiday trip to a hill station) and the highway. in bangalore the Lxi cost 3.74 lacs (bimal), in kerala 3.38 (popular)
for this price....i had a few more expectations.
also in this price range u automatically consider Chevy beat, i10 era, and A
Chevy beat: good looking car, but not tat powerful. Worried abot after sales, resale Value? but wat looks.....simply sexy man i10 era: very well built, good car, v good resale value, nice looking interiors, seats could have been better, engine is powerful, visibility is factor if u r short lacks space, boot is jus bare minimum..... meant jus for handbags, But this is a sports cars not meant for family.....Its meant to woe the gals ..Drive, ride quality and handling is the best in the class, interiors good, looks good. Front seats are the best in its class. visibilty is a factor if u r short. Not sure abot the resale thou.
Coming to the Alto K10:
Pros:
1) More power: Dont expect it to behave like a rocket thou. Its defi faster than its predecessor, but still I felt the zen was better. The point where it scores is on high terrain.....u have tat extra confidence wen u drive especially to clear those steep ascends n ofcorse wen cutting those annoyg trucks on the highway. Old alto felt as if it was being pushed from behind. but not tis car. In city its good ....extra bit of power to zip thro the traffic or cut thro
2) good brakes
3) better gear box
4) steering is better.....but Not as precise as A
5) bigger boot than old car
6) Space lil better....still no leg room but can expect in this class
7) dash is good but for the price it cod hav been better
8) better mileage
9) good ac
cons:
1) Atleast 20K overpriced tat defi wat I felt.
2) Seats cod have been better. I felt the seats were v hard, lacked tat cushioning effect. Com on maruti u cod hav givn us better quality seats, especially wen u charging so much. This car isnt meant for long drives......its surely gon tire u... give the A star seats n this car will be great in al aspects.
3) Fabric quality of interiors cod have been better. i10 was the best in this regard
4) After 120 kmph ride quality isnt good.....notg like A
My verdict:
Car wil face competition cos its overpriced. maruti is known to give u a fairly good product with massive service network and good resale value. But I felt tat the service is becomg more pricey in bangalore thou where I got a bill of Rs8900 for a routine 20, 000 km service for my swift dzire from mandovi bangalore wic was way above maruti standards.
I wish they improve the quality of the seats and keep a check on the pricing at their dealer workshop....otherwise maruti will go the Tata way.......U no tata products are good but why dont they sell as much as maruti....its cos of the reasonable n good service tat maruti offers.....After all its our hard earned money n consumer is the final boss.
