I have been keen to buy the Ertiga and went to the Maruti "Bagga Link" Showroom in Partparganj Ind Area, Delhi.
The experience was hilarious. here goes.
They sent the Diesel model to my house as that is what I was looking to buy.
When I drove the vehicle, in the first gear itself, when I stepped on the accelerator, the car took an initial pick and then the pickup nose dived and it the car jerked, after which the "Check Engine" light came on, and while I drove it for next 10-15mins the pick up was very bad in all gears.
I told the sales guy to get it checked and he called me back the next day stating that there was no problem identified in the vehicle and if I had a doubt I should try out a new vehicle.
I went to Bagga Link again after 1Month and again took a test drive in the same test drive vehicle.
This time again, the vehicle had the same problem, very low pick up especially at a high RPM and same check engine light came on while trying to accelerate. On my asking, the sales rep replied that the pickup was low of the Eritga as it had a small engine and I should not expect more.
I insisted that the pickup cannot be that bad and I tried a new vehicle at the same dealership.
To my amusement and the surprise of the sales rep., it had an awesome pickup.
So here is the conclusion.
The dealership is unable to repair their own test drive vehicle and have been unable to identify that there is a problem in the vehicle, even when the check engine light is on and they are being told of the problem faced while driving.
Maruti dealership has been giving people a test drive on a bad vehicle and they themselves do not believe in the product.
I also asked the Manager at the showroom why his people were not aware, and he also said that the turbo charger will kick in only on the 3rd gear. talk of ignorance:-)
Anyways, I like the vehicle but am seriously thinking weather or not to buy the vehicle, as it seems like Maruti has not trained its people well, and that will result in bad service support.
