Maruti Udyog - A Great Company but...

I am back writing a review on Mouth shut after such a long time

I am writing this review won the No.1 Car manufacturer in India. You guessed it right Maruti Udyog. Sorry, I couldn’t find a Category specifically for Maruti Udyog, so I chose Maruti Esteem.

Maruti has currently around 11 models in the market.

But one thing which I fail to understand is that the pricing strategy which the management of Maruti follows.

If you look closely, you will find that each model of Maruti is cutting into the market share of the other model of Maruti. For example:

Maruti 800 is cutting into the market of Alto LX earlier now it is the other way round. Alto LX has beaten Maruti 800 in sales. Alto VXI is competing with ZEN and WAGON R who in turn are cutting into each other?s market share in the B segment. Well, the redesigned ZEN failed to live up to its expectations and the Old ZEN will surely be missed. Then they have brought in the cross over MUV ?VERSA? one look at it makes me wonder, is it an abnormal child of WAGON R and OMNI Van. May be a premature baby in the B-segment. I wonder what they thought about when designing this MUV.

If we move on to the C segment, here we will find that Esteem is cutting the market share of Baleno.

How can one forget the King, I mean the Gypsy King for which they stopped production. It was the true 4 wheel drive which one could experience even Mahindra Scorpio comes no way closer to the driving experience Gypsy gave to its owners.

Moving higher up the Suzuki Grand Vitara, which has failed miserably in the market.

The less said about it is better

I fail to understand how can Maruti compete in the market if each model of theirs is trying to outdo the same Maruti Udyog?s products in the market. One might say, that Maruti is giving more choices to its customers so that they can purchase what they wish to.

But I think the fact is that Maruti doesn?t have any new products up its sleeve to launch in the market.

If you see Hyundai and Honda, they are bringing new model after new model in the market and each model is truly world class.

It?s high time for MARUTI to bring in new models into the market how long will they be giving an old whisky in a new bottle. And the competitors will keep on taking the advantage of this.
