I recently traded my old mm540 4x4 for the new Gypsy King, initially I found it a lot narrower than my old Mahindra which served me well ;but I got used to it.. For starters it is not that bad a vehicle as it has been put in the Indian Brains, The average is not that bad either....bout 10-11 kms/ltr(city) ;which is as good as most petrol cars...but look at the brighter side , one gets a very capable 4x4 petrol suv which is highly recomended in India.I espcially loved the silence of Petrol 4x4 after my Mahindra. The driving position is perfect.......The biggest drawbacks are the front passenger seat....it has very little space...but one can get aftermarket job of getting it pushed back. Also recomended is taking off your spare wheel from the back door as it can damage the hinges.
I wish Maruti had an A/C option.
Overall I recomend it to anyone who wants to have an exciting fun to drive second vehicle and by the way Cops and Goons both respect you for when you are in it...espcially if it is white.
If your heart is young and like sum wind in your hair.....go on do not waste time...buy it....they may not make it forever.
Install FREE WHEELING HUBS in your front wheels and you completly transform your Kings, I have done it .............and boy does it Run ..........it leaves me speechless.
What these hubs do is that they free you front wheels from propler shaft movement when in 2 Wheel drive and only when you engage 4X4 do you have to get down and engage them in lock position. Thus it not only saves Precious fuel but also gives you additional horsepower to utilize giving it a better pick up and top speed .
I was doing 130+ kms/hr on the Noida Expressway after their installation.
I got mine THrough LAMBDA, a company based in South India , I think @ Banglore. In Delhi though their dealer is Rajasthan Motors In Kashmere Gate.
By the way the older 1000cc Hubs DO NOT fit in the new Kings due to difference in shaft size so the best boption is LAMBDA. Well !thats what my mechanic told me and I think he may be right.
Try them and you will thank me.
The set should cost you @ Rs 3000 to Rs 3500. and it is fairly easy to install, I got mine istalled at RANA MOTORS in Delhi.
Enjoy.
