Hi guys, I just got my hands on a brand new Suzuki Swift 2 weeks back and I’m all praise for it already. The car has great pickup and acceleration is just too good for a car of its category. The engine is very smooth and refined with no signs of harshness at all. The ride quality and handling is pretty good too. With regards to interior space I’d say the front seating legroom is spacious enough however the backseat space could appear cramped at times specially when you push the front seats way too behind (more of a common trait with small cars). The boot is kind of small but you sure could tuck away a few things (I’ve got 2 big speaker boxes tucked in the boot with Pioneer 5 way speakers, which takes up most of the space there leaving very little space for other stuff; blame it on my craze for music).
The best thing I like about the Swift besides the strong engine are it’s classy & distinctive looks which sure turns heads everywhere you go. Also to have the widespread service network that Maruti has is a comfort factor which cannot be overlooked and not to forget the good resale value for most Maruti car models. Since the car is still in the run in period I didn’t try pushing the car too much but I’m sure that would be satisfaction guaranteed.
I have no statistics to share on the mileage, acceleration & braking front but what I did notice is that with the AC running the way it was gulping feul was alarming (well, using AC does consume more feul but I found it to be higher than normal). Braking too isn’t comforting at times; I had a situation where the traffic ahead of me suddenly came to a grind and I had to brake hard but surprisingly the car still moved ahead slightly; maybe I should have tried the pumping technique which is normally the correct way to apply brakes. Other than these minor issues I’m pretty satisfied with the car and would recommend it to people to are looking for a small car with distinct modern looks with a strong engine to boot. People who are very concious about mileage may choose to look for alternatives as good mileage is something you won’t get here (average is known to be around 13-14kmpl as per test rides done by popular auto magazines like Overdrive).
