I was fascinated by BMW’s small cars ‘minicoopers’. Small but powerful…….. So I wanted to own a small but powerful car in that shape. The hanging roof style gives a real sports look which is there in Swift.

Amazingly Suzuki have fitted it’s 1300 CC engine in Swift. Initially they created GSX R4 super car out of it. Then they converted it into Concept-S/S1/S2 convertable and then to Swift 3 Doors and 5 Doors.
I was thinking on buying a car for the last 1 yr. But frankly speaking no worth car was available till Swift launches. The price, Power, space, comfort, luxury all in one kinda…
Many of my friends suggested me to go for WagonR, Santro, Getz or a second hand Zen. I also tried Indica Petrol. It’s a real good car at what it is priced and the excellent pick up. But unfortunately no resale value guys. The look doesn’t really fulfill your sportive needs.
If Getz is priced at swift then I could have thought of it because of space and comfort but again Hundai is not a well known brand in other countries like US, UK. In US they call it Cheapos. Anyways Suzuki also doesn’t have that much reputation in US but I believe in Japanese technology than Koreans. They produce good quality product. And for swift they have really taken more efforts than making WagonR and other small cars. Moreover it’s a hot cake in Europe too.
Every car has its own pros and cons so Swift also has the same as per my view:
Pros:
Amazing pick up with 87BHP.
Nice sportive shape.
Strong body and macho look in small segment car (Please don’t compare with Scorpio and Land Cruiser) It’s a small but sturdy car.
Wheel Dia R14.
Good wheel base.
Nice handling
Good road grip. (Nice weight as well).
Chunky steering.
Nice interiors than any other car from Maruti in ‘B’ segment but don’t compare with Honda City and Corolla. See what you get at that price in that segment.
A good deal is vxi variant. You get almost everything for zxi except (Air bags, ABS, Demister, rear wiper, Alloy wheels and tubeless tyres). For a common man like me its all not required by paying 1Lac more for ZXI. Again zxi also is a good deal for a person who wants to buy that much of safety and needs. Because which car gives you all that at 5.55L?
Nice exterior.
Good sportive engine noise.
Great suspensions.
Viewing through windshield is broader than WagonR and Indica.
Much Powerful than 1.2 Palio and can compare with 1.4 Corsa Sail.
Fuel economy is 12-14 Kmpl and promised by Maruti is 15KMPL. (may be on high ways).
Good ground clearance.
Many people didn’t like the back of the car but I think it’s sexy and compact….
Cons:
Back seat is little cramped for hefty people more than 70 Kg only 2 can fit in properly.
Smaller boot space than Indica, Pallio otherwise it’s okay.
Not much leg room for a six and half feet guy on the back seat.
Many people didn’t like the back side of the car.
3rd gear has got lesser pickup than Getz.
If you guys are looking at Getz and Swift don’t even think twice to book swift. It always make sense to pay a worth Car. And more over the biggest advantage is it’s Suzuki from MARUTI. Go anywhere you get service for your car for sure (That too….. if required)………………… :-)
