Hi to all swift owners / would b owners
i bought the swift in june’05 & was one of the few to get the first week
models.
my concerns on this car were :
1. mileage
2. driving comfort as far as the seating height & the unique front shape are cocerned
3. driving on delhi roads with ref to the curved & protruding front bumper
area
4. the power window control’s life & handling
5. seating comfort
on all the above below are my findings based on 5 months driving experience:
1. mileage - am able to get 13-14 km/ltr in city driving
2. driving comfort - excellent
3. driving in delhi is manageable despite front shape, haven’t had any
impacts due to the shape, atleast.
4. power window controls are as good as new till date
5. seating comfort - driver seat is great, have spent max of 1 to 1.5 hrs at a stretch on road till date.
6. very good pick up & extremely good stability at hi speeds even while cornering.
7. suspension is very good considering it’s a maruti & ride is to a very large extent cushy.
personally feel the swift is till date the best model in its segment after the zen.
specific problems I hav faced + improvement areas would be :
1. petrol lid gets stuck sometime & does not open automatically when
operated from inside
2. antenna is easily unscrewable & I always fear pilferage of same.
3. am not clear on the recommended tyre pressure, anyone reading pls advise
me if aware.
4. slight vision obstruction due to the front a-b pillars
the swift on a whole is an extremely good value for money car, actually it is a both fun & practical car rolled into one. having driven maruti’s omni, 800, zen & baleno I can confidently say, maruti has definitely hit the bull’s eye with the swift. an extremely aggresive & sporty look just add icing to the cake !
