I was looking for a diesel car in a budget of around 5 to 6 lakhs. Finally I have short listed Swift VDI and Tata Indigo TDI. Both has a same price range. I have test driven both and found that Swift
VDI has a sound engine in her bottom. You will not feel like you are driving a diesel vehicle. The drive was very smooth and the pick up is amazing. Only concern you have in this vehicle is the space provided for the rear seat travelers. You feel congested in the rear seat. Another noticeable problem is the boot space. Believe this car is built to use as a two seater car. If your family size is bigger than four members definitely this car is not recommendable for you. Again if you compare to the Tata Indigo TDI, which is available in the same cost, you find enough space inside and the boot space is excellent. But the ride quality is not as good as Swift VDI and it has been heard that the Indigo is not a reliable car. The plastics used in interior by TATA is of very poor quality.
I have decided to buy the Swift VDI simply for the drive comfort and I don’t really require much space in rear and boot. For the mileage part not really sure about the exact mileage but believe this car can give around 14 to 16 in city and around 21 in high way.
Will update the latest once I cover at least 5000 kms.
