Swift VDI First Review - Test Drive

*You Can Read my Second Review on Swift Diesel VD section

Swift Diesel the economy car in diesel vehicles in India

I had test driven vdi version, my first impression on the car was good and after the second test drive I felt the machine was really amazing.

LOOKS: The same look as petrol vehicle I hope every one might have seen the car by now:o) just kidding … I love it.

COMFORT: 1) Fair leg space for driver and co-driver but doesn’t have much space for rear seats.

2) Very good suspensions, very smooth driving experience on ring road… felt comfortable driving conditions even on bad roads.

3) Road clearance was good enough, I did take vehicle upto 80 km/hr the vehicle is very stable.

4) The steering control was pretty handy.

ENGINE & TECHNOLOGY: The first thing what really got impressed with the car is the torque, 190Nm of torque was very much effective and powerful, don’t have to change gears frequently. The sound compared to other diesel vehicles was very much smoother. Till now we have seen two diesel engines in maruti Zen and Esteeem, both the engines are flop at the box-office:o) but I can say that this machine will be a super doper hit just because this engine is not a maruti made engine(Good in petrol but not in diesel) its from fiat a multi injection engine and more over the engine is localized upto 75% and the engine was a hit in UK and had given the “Best Engine Award” for the year 2005.

MILEAGE: I hope every one must be waiting for this information, as of now I can’t give you the exact number but MUL claims that it gives 20-22 on city road and 24-26 on highways, I always trust MUL on their mileage, I hope this car can give atleast 18 in cities and 22-24 on high on good driving conditions. Will update you on this as soon as I get the right numbers as I am taking my car delivery today.

PRICE: On road price for the vdi version in Banglore – 5, 65, 856 with three years warrantee, I feel its overpriced by about 20000 Rupees. However, if  you look at the mileage and the money spent it is value for the money car.

That’s all for now… will keep posting as on I drive my vehicle.  Do let me know how useful this review is for you.
