On 25-04-2007 my new Maruti Swift Diesel LDi was delivered after a waiting of about 25days.
Here are my initial opinions about the car.
The car has a very refined engine.Even when u strain the motor it will not emit a coarse note.
The power and pick up are just fantastic.
U just love its ride.
One exceptional quality o fthe car is the almost non effect of the AC on engine performance and handling of the vehicle.
You will never switch the AC off even with the car fully loaded.
The mileage appears to be good.
Space is also adequate for 5 and a kid.
Quality of the material used in the car is good.
This is my third car after Zen and Ford Ikon diesel.But this car beats them in all the departments except in the steering of the Ford.
But I should admit over all its a very good car and with Mariti’s reliability and service - you have a winner in your hand.
So if you dont need a boot just go for Swift diesel.
Buy VDi if possible as LDi lacks some essential goodies.
Price of the car is about 30k more than what it should be- acc to me.
Will be back after 1st service with mileage details.

After running 2500kms in 25days I am feeling very proud abt the car.
Within few days of purchase there were some troubles.
-The Power Steering used to be quite hard once I reduce the speed.That is the steering would not become light as fast as it should be.
-The engine used to switch off when running in AC and third gear or higher when I reduce the speed.
But these problems have been rectified during the first service.
The mileage is very good. On long drives the car returned 23kmpl and 2kmpl less on AC.
As I mentioned before the car’s dynamics willnot be affected when u switch on AC.This is a very important feature as far as I am concerned.
The power and pick up are just fantastic. Not many cars on the road can overtake this one!.
The car’s body rolling is quite palpable if u approach corners in high speed.So be careful.
As I said before Swift Diesel’s owners are a proud bunch. We just love the mental peace it offers with its realibility, Power and pick up when u are in a mood and economy when u just want to save money.!
