Most comfortable compact car

I bought WagonR LXI BS3 about three months back from Pratham Motors, Bangalore. Believe me its an excellent car.

First Car

As it was my first I did a lot of analysis before buying it. I spoke to a lot of friends, read reviews and also test drove a lot of cars like Santro, Zen, Tata Indica and Maruti WagonR. At last narrowed down my choices to Santro and WagonR. Both Santro and WagonR are front runners in this segment. But I had to take a final decision so I zeroed on WagonR considering Maruti’s reputation in the Indian car market.

First Drive

The car is excellent in terms of handling and comfort. The engine is silky smooth and very responsive. you will not believe, I drove almost 3500 Kms in 3 months time. I took my car on highway drive from Bangalore to Coorg and back. Again I drove from Bangalore to Ooty and back. The drive was very comfortable and handling was very good. I get a milage between 11-12 in City conditions and 15-17 on a highway drive.

The car seats 4 people very comfortably and even the people at back can recline their seats. The car has a decent boot space and a large luggage space.

Oops I forgot about the Electronic Power Steering. It is really useful and helps you cruise your car through city traffic with very little effort. Especially when you drive in cities like Bangalore.

Pros

1) Powerful and responsive engine

2) Electronic Power Steering

3) Comfortable ride

4) Decent Milage

5) Comfortable boot space

6) Large Luggage space

7) Powerful AC

8) Reclining back seats

9) Last but not the least ’’Maruti’s wide spread service network’’

Cons

1) Seats only 4 people

2) Little whobbly on bad roads. May be because of tall boy design or because of the tyres. WagonR LXI comes with JK Tyres Ultima XP of size 145/70/R13. My opinion is they could have provided with a better wider tyres.

To conclude, WagonR won the best car award in compact car segment by JDPower last year (2005). It is also true from the point that you can see a number of new WagonR’s on the Indian roads in recent times. Even the sales statistics of the car in recent times is very impressive.
