Value for Money is most suited tag for this car. I had driven Maruti Zen for couple of years and have been driving santro zing from past 4 years. Month back I started looking for new car which can serve well for city driving (i have around 20 KM usage per day) and give me a sense of upgradation with new features.
I wanted to go for a patrol car as usage is not good enough to justify a diesel version. Here are the cars which I compared.
1) Maruti Swift, Ritz, Fiat Punto, volkswagen polo, Hyundai i20 --- Price go beyond 5 Lacs (full featured version was even touching 5.5).
2) Ford Figo -
PRO - rightly priced,
CON - didnt get enough power at gear changes, I go to 100kph in much lesser time on my old santro,
wiper and light sticks are on reverse side - I and wife keep on switching our vehicles, so it would not have gone well
no child locks in rear doors
bad quality of plastic used for interiors
was worried about after sale service/ parts (only one ford dealer in gurgaon)
3) Chevy beat - Good looks. but Low on mileage, but did nt do test drive because was worried about after sale service/ parts.
4) Hyundai i10 - was the closest competition - at 4.4 Lacs(on road) I was getting almost the same feature which got for Wagon R 2010, mileage is bit less (17 in test condition as compared to 18.9 in case of Maruti wagon r) and after sale service/part are quite comparable.
Con: I was fed-up seeing so many i10 on gurgaon roads, I guess everyone who would have gone for santro earlier is going for i10 now. K series engine is available in 1.2 model only (which is bit pricy too).
5) New Maruti wagon R 2010 - VXi model at 4.10 lacs(on road) is having --rear defogger, --back wiper, fog lamp, keyless entry, tubeless tires, power steering, all power windows, wheel cover, electronic side view mirror movement control, tilt steering wheel, 18.9 mileage(in test condition) maruti has reduced cc from 1100(in earlier version) to 1000 but with K-series engine performance is better.
rear seat is of split type with half (its actually 35-65 divide) can be brought down to accommodate for more storage. extra storage tray under front co-passenger seat. glass holder on both driver, co passenger seat, in build stereo system
body color bumper, body color door handles, body color side view mirrors, electronic fuel indicator, cable based gear stick (much better than previous wagon r, but still could have been smaller ........i liked the one in i20). I liked improvements done in shape also, those make it one step closer to look like a mini SUV. wheel size is bigger to improve the center of gravity, Doors while opening stop at three positions. widest position makes it almost perpendicular to body of car, offering much easier entry to car.
So all in all, I was getting a fully loaded version of car which no other vendor is providing in this price range. I booked one and got one last week (after 1 week wait time), Will return to write review after couple of months of usage. Hope you find above details useful.
