Based on the Suzuki Cervo Mode, the first generation Maruti Zen was introduced in 1993 [MH410]. In Europe and many other export markets, the car sold as the Suzuki Alto. In 1997 the model received body coloured bumpers. In 2000 its cost ( of the Zen LX model) was around Rs 3, 20, 000 in India. The Zen underwent a facelift in 2003. In June 2003, a three-door sports version of the Zen in VXi segment was launched, prices at 3.9 Lakh ( ex-showroom, New Delhi) . It was only available in silver or black. The production of the Zen range ended in March 2006
