Great hang-out

What a surprise! It was a Saturday late morning and we had an hour more before we checked out from our hotel on Brigade Road. So we thought we would case out this famous road of Bangalore. A few minutes of walking up this crazily crowded road and we found ourselves wandering into a side lane.

All at once the rich sexy aroma of fresh coffee hit us and led us to Matteo’s Coffee Shop. To my great pleasure I noticed the crowd was comely. They were literally chilling out there, nursing drinks, or smoking in the sitout. Everyone seemed to be in animated conversation with friends, chatting, laughing, getting lost in their own worlds. A young man was wooing his girlfriend, another table was monopolised by a group of girls, the shop ran deep and most tables were occupied. Great business! We got a table for two.

I don’t quite recollect what the bill came to but it was around Rs.300 for coffee and sandwiches. The lively vibes there, the lovely youngsters from around the world, not to mention the sweet faces of Bangalore’s own, but everyone in a good mood and reminding us what a great village this is. Nice way to round off a short trip to Bangalore. Of course, Matteo’s is now on my to-do list the next time I travel to Bangalore.
