Previously it was known as West Bengal University of technology, but recently the chief minister of Bengal named it as Maulana Abul Kalam Azad University Of Technology. Yeh. It does sound like a madrashah! There was no need of renaming a university according to me. Wbut or West Bengal University of technology was found in the year 2000, and was initially funded by the West Bengal government. It allows us to do specialization in 29 domains and 197 colleges are affiliated to Wbut. It encompasses the whole geographical areas of bengal. It is recognised by university grants commisuon( ugc) . And it’s vice Chancellor is prof subrata Kumar Dey. It’s one of the best universities of India. But you are sure to he trolled by makaut every now and then. Exams dates and results are announced without any prior notice. The curriculum is quiet hectic.there is very little scope to participate in extra Co curricular activities. Thank you
