Locales- Awesome!
People - Friendly.
Honeymoon Location -Yes.
Cost -
Depends !
Paid 75 MUR for a water bottle one day at a small shop around the street and the next day got the same water bottle(same brand) at 21 MUR. They shopkeepers are waiting to take u for a ride if you let them. Most articles do not have a MRP printed. Just buy things from supermarkets and avoid the mom and pop stores.
Do bargain for everything! Tour costs/Ride costs/water sports cost and they are open to bargaining. The activities are generally overpriced. My Experience:Prices of a shell rose bracelet varied from 25 MUR to 300 MUR when I enquired at different locations.

No local articles as such other than clothes and beer(Pheonix)
Caudon Water Front Malls-Prices over the edge.Very limited choice. But Shops are beautiful.

Floreal Craft Market:Very Beautiful and articles are value for money.
Adamas Diamonds: Found the Price wrt size in India to be faaaaar far lesser.

Grand Baie: Wonderful Market.Very less prices and fresh stock. Its so colourful and Lively you would regret going away.
Food:
Disaster for Vegetarians.
Vegetarian food is available but very limited choice.
Nothing like pure veg exists in Mauritius.
Even if you find vegetarian food the restaurant is filled with Aroma(stink for vegetarians) of non vegetarian delicacies.
Its a Paradise for sea food lovers.Such exotic sea food and what a range of choices.
Indian style cooking available too but limited choice.
