I have been in Bangalore for last 7 years and have been hearing a lot about this restaurant. I am really a big lover of South Indian food and had tried before in all good places like A2B, Uddupi, nandani, shanthi sagar etc., but had never got a chance to try food in MTR.
Last night(July 28, 2010) I was with my brother who was visiting bangalore and one of my good friends. So I thought of taking them to a good place for good south indian food. MTR came in my mind as first choice as I had heard a lot about this place. Immediately we finalized the plan and went to MTR at 8:00 PM for dinner. Rs 130/- per thali, we bought the coupons and went into the waiting room.
Moment I entered into the waiting room, I got shocked as it was stinky and I found it a very unhygienic place to sit just before any dinner. I thought if people can wait in this place in huge number so there should be something great about this food. We waited for around 30 minutes and got a chance to get into the dinning area. First dish which was served to us was a half glass of GRAPE JUICE. Believe me it reminded me of my old childhood days when I used to have cough sugar syrup prescribed by my doctor. It was pathetic and very artificial.Second thing which was served was a full glass of water. Forget about the taste, water was smelling bad. Taste was really weird and this was the biggest sign of bad hygiene in MTR. After that all the dishes like sagu, coconut chatney, raita, rasgulla, sambhar/rice. vangi bhath, salad, rasam, papad, puri, curd rice and ice cream were served to us one by one. After tasting everything one by one we were looking at each other’s face and smiling, infact laughing as we got to know that entire Bangalore is being fooled around by NAMMA MTR and some stupid people who write fake reviews. Best thing we had in the thali was PICKLE only. Can you believe this. The worst south indian food I have ever tasted in my last 7 years in bangalore, in fact in my life. We wrapped up the meal very quickly as our mood was completely spoiled. I decided to write this review because some chatty people(who don’t know the taste of any kind of food) have been saying good things about NAMMA MTR and misguiding people. This is the true feedback not a fake one as I understand the value of people’s money like us.
