I consider myself a Fast Food veteran. I’ve been around
a long time and just about seen it all. The “Burger Wars”, the “ Fries Debates”, the “Shakes Scandals”.
You name it, I’ve seen it.
I first visited a McD’s in 1956 in Connecticut. It was a great experience for a kid and his parents too. Tasty, fresh food, inexpensive, clean, friendly service. What more could you possibly ask for ?
Well, I have been to literally hundreds of McDonald’s
over the years. Spanning at least 20 states and 1 other
country (Honduras). You can say that I’ve been with
Mickey D from the beginning to the present. I have
seen this franchise start the Fast Food Boom in the
U.S. and around the world.
Unfortunately, I can only say that every year since it’s inception, I have seen (in my humble
opinion) the quality of food and service deteriorate steadily. The once tasty, juicy burgers are now ordinary,
run of the mill, dried out patties of beef. That special sauce on the Big Mac’s is nothing “special”. All it does is try to
hide the fact that the burger is tasteless.
Service in most areas lends a new meaning to
“fast food”. Lines have become extremely
long (or is it because the service has become extremely slow ?) Very rarely do they get my order right the first time, no matter how slowly and distinctly I give it.
90% of the time, I have to explain why the order isn’t what I asked for. How hard can it possibly be to screw up “ two Big Mac’s and an order of Fries, please” ?
Cleanliness varies greatly from one shop to the next.
Some are spotless (as they ALL used to be) and some
are downright seedy.
I am saddened to see this pioneer of the industry, fall
to a level that I can only call “ordinary”. The only time I visit the local Mickey D’s is when
I don’t care what I’m eating and if
I’m not in a hurry.
McDonald’s was once a giant and leader in the industry, now it is just one of the bunch.
Would I recommend it to someone looking for a good meal? NO
Would I recommend it to someone looking for a fast meal? NO
Would I recommend it to someone looking for a nutritious meal? NO
