If my eight-year-old daughter has her choice of which restaurant we will go to, she will always choose McDonalds. This has created a bit of conflict between her and her sisters, as they have mostly outgrown the desire to go to the golden arches. Sometimes the little one wins, though, and off to McDonalds we go.
I dont think it is the food that draws her in, though. She likes to play on the toys. Our local McDonalds has enclosed the toys into a nice inside play area, with tables spread out so the adults can watch the kids play.
The food at McDonalds scares me, to be quite honest. The only thing I ever eat when we go there is the filet of fish sandwich; everything else gives me an automatic and almost immediate stomach ache. My youngest adores the happy meals, and the older two prefer the crispy chicken sandwiches.
McDonalds food has grown in variety over the years, giving a much better selection of food. The french fries have stayed the same, and are as good as they have always been. The prices are comparable to other fast food restaurants, and are fairly easy on the budget.
Inside the restaurant, the decor is a bit uncomfortable and harsh but it serves its purpose considering that the majority of the customers are children. This does create a need for easy clean up!
The employees are mostly quite friendly, but they are almost invariably high school kids and sometimes they have not yet learned the fine art of managing a stressful job while keeping a smile on their faces. Still and all, my expeience with the service received has generally been pretty good.
McDonalds is not my first choice, but it does give me some time to write or read a book while my daughter plays. And having that kind of a break is nice once in a while!
