I have eaten at every McDonalds joint in Mumbai except for the Lokhandwala joint. One thing that suprises me is that the quality of ingredients they use is same at all joints. I had a close friend working for McDonalds, India. I got to know from him that prior to launching the chain in India, McDonalds had conducted a research as to which place in India grows the quality of potatoes, and other ingredients they use and is in par with the food they serve internationally. I dont know how true is that, but they took 8 years to serach and decide which locations in India will supply them the ingredients. Ultimately they decided on a place in Haryana and today Haryana supplies them with the potatoes for fries. Same goes for other locations for their other supplies. I had a chance to accompany him to McDonalds godown in Thane, where they stock the supplies and then its despatched to different centers in Mumbai. What Im trying to say is all this does throw some light in proving as to how quality concious they try to be. And the most surprising factor for me is that I had eaten at several McDonalds joints in China, and HongKong and I found no difference whatsoever in the tastes with respect to mumbai joints. I found that quite amazing. I know there have been issues with some contreversy regarding the oil used in their fries and their service. As far as taste is concerned, we all have different taste buds and I have friends who prefer Wada Paav to a McDonald burger. Personally, I dont have any problems with their burgers and I love their Fish O Fillet. Their Fries are too good. As far as drinks are concerned, I avoid ice cuz within ten minutes of serving, their ice in cola start tasting like cola in ice. The Apple pie I had there was horrendous. Rest, I havent tried the shakes.
The softy they serve is a joke and I prefer a street kulfi over it anytime. As far as prices are concerned, I think they are on a bit higher side. And I love the Mayoneese sauce they use in their burgers, really makes them juicy. Ambience is quite Okay except for the Thane joint where one feels that hes been served free food with longer than life queues and a chaos that would put Dadar Rlwy station to shame. Not a bad place to spend a silent time with close one(s).
