Having been a regular eater at Mac Dees for almost a decade now, I
would want to present my views on this family restaurant which despite
the criticism it faces, continues to be *one of the most popular fast food joints
of Urban India.
As my title suggests - love it or hate it, you can’t ignore it (The
famous line they use for celebrities). Yes, no mall or a shopping
complex is complete without Mac Dees. On paper, it can give enough
reasons to complain, yet the positives are such that you just can’t
forget about them. So let me discuss each aspect of it one by one:
Food**: Though I don’t mind eating burgers, I would say its a limitation
for the chain, coz if you’re looking for a heavy meal comprising of
varied food items, go somewhere else. Anyways, the major items that are
served here are:
1)Burgers: You can get a variety of burgers here from Vegetarian ones
(Mac Aloo tikki, Veg. Surprise, Mac Veggie Burger) to Non Vegetarian
Ones (Mac Chicken Burger, Filet - o - Fish).
2)Drinks: Apart from the soft drinks served, they provide you with
other drinks like Ice Tea, Tea, Coffee and Hot Chocolate as well.
3)French Fries: Served at three different rates (Small, medium and large)
4)Shahi Paneer and Shahi chicken
5) Salsa wraps : Paneer salsa wrap is a speciality.
6)Ice creams: Go for Soft serves (served in cups) in three flavours
(strawberry, mango and chocolate) or prefer the cones (the simple one
or the chocolate/butterscotch ones).
Location**: You can find a food joint of it in any major shopping area or
your nearest mall, especially if you reside in a big city. And thats
one of its biggest advantages.
Price**: One of the major reasons why it sells is coz you can get
burgers, soft serves and pizza Mac Puffs for as low as Rs. 20. When it
was launched in late 90s, its prices were quite high. But with the
beginning of the new decade, the rates have just got lower.
Decor**: A major highlight of the chain. Its the interior which attracts
you to the place, especially the well polished and sqeaky clean floors
and good seating arrangement.
Service**: Though there’s self service, i.e. you have to order at the
counter and collect your items yourselves, the service is quick and
sharp; and the people make sure you get the food as early as possible.
So, to sum it all, I would list down the positives and negatives:
Positives: Good location, excellent service, affordable prices and an attractive interior.
Negatives: Not much variety in food items; it can get monotonous after visiting the place a few times.
Even though I have seen many people criticising Mac Donalds to death, I
love this place. A perfect one to spend time with family and friends.
