McLeodganj is always a better choice for me to spend my holidays.It was always a good trip but my last trip was a bad experience.
McLeodganj is almost 11 km from Dharamshala in Himachal Pradesh. It is a famous local tourist spot.It is easy to reach Mcleodganj via taxi or bus. There are many places to see like Bhagsunath Temple, Famous Triud track, Tibetian Museum, Namgyal Monestry, Bhagsu Fall, Dal Lake, Church of St. Johns, Naam Art Gallery, Dharamkot, Norbulingka Institute etc.
There are many hotels in Mcleodganj as it a famous tourist spot.But my suggestion to prefer Government Guest house which is in the middle of the city. They have rights contacts and can arrange good guide for tourists. It is cheap also with excellent food and clean rooms.I never felt comfortable in other hotels as they have links with private guides and they are very expensive.
My major concern in Mcleodganj is that it is over crowded with outsiders these days and roads are very narrow.If you are coming with your own vehicle, please don’t take you vehicle inside the city as you will stuck in traffic and if you didn’t found parking than you have go more than 5 km to come back.Peoples are not good as they always try to take extra penny from your pocket.
If you are planning to go to Dal Lake, please hire local driver as the road is very dangerous, Only very experience driver can manage to drive on that road.
Night life is not safe.Please avoid to roam in the night.
Rest Everything is beautiful there. Plan during the summer holidays.It is a beautiful place to get rid off your busy life.
