I got bypass surgery done of my father at Medanta. My father insisted on getting his surgery done under famed Dr Naresh Trehan. We had a bad experience because of following reasons:
We got to see Dr Trehan just for 2 mins in first OPD. After that he never came for any rounds, or checked the progress of my father. We can only imagine that he did the surgery.
Doctor who came before surgery as part of Dr Trehans team never visited my father post-op.
Once my father was shifted to ward post op, different doctors visited him everyday and most had no idea of his history. Only few of them were senior doctors (and probably one called her part of Dr Trehans team), most were doctors doing PG at the hospital. Leave aside Dr Trehan, it was even difficult to see a doctor of Dr Trehans team. We only got to see Dr Trehans name outside the room of our father.
The same was true for Nursing staff. They were changed so often that they hardly knew about the ongoing medication. They were polite and apologetic but that was our only solace. I wonder why same set of nurses cannot take care of one patient. My father changed places 6 times. Every time the set of nurses changed and considering 3 shifts, 18 nurses looked after my father in a span of 12 days.
We were told at 11 am that my father was going to be discharged. By 11.30 am my father was shifted out of his room into a waiting lounge where he was asked to sit till all his clearances came. We had an insurance and we repent why we went for cashless facility. Clearances from TPA came by 6 pm, only then he was allowed to move and he was extremely exhausted by that time. This despite the fact that hospital had to give us a refund of more than a lakh rupees.
I strongly recommend not going to Medanta.
