Medanta Medicity is a good hospital and has wold class infrastructure and technology no doubt but what blankets all these good things about hospital is the attitude of doctors towards patients, coordination among staffs and cooperation between departments which is at its worst. I think the name and fame of the hospital has gone high upto such an extent that nobody bothers about the way the hospital is working and its effects on the patients and family.
I had recently been to Medanta Gurugram for my Mother’s Total knee replacement surgry which was previously reviewed and scheduled for surgery by Dr SKS Marya a month before. But due to the negligence of surgeon and no cooperation and coordination among staffs and other departments we cancelled the surgery and discharged my mother because we were in no mood for taking chances or being an experimental animal. Pointers on what made us took this decision are mentioned below:
1. Dr SKS Marya never turned up to visit the patient even for 5 mins before the scheduled surgery.
2. Juniors doctors took the matters in hand and kept us informing that Dr Marya will visit the patient on rounds but never happened.
3. Junior doctors kept lying and finally when we confronted a day before the surgery one doctor accepted that Dr Marya wont be operating on my mother but some other doctor will.
4. Radiologist during xray and cardiologist during the echo test questioned my mother that why are you getting TKR surgery done because you are fit and fine and its not indicative in you. But when my mother said that Dr SKS Marya has given a go for surgery they kept quiet and said please dont take our names in front of doctor. Patient lost will and trust for the surgery.
5. We wanted to talk to dr Marya on phone but was told that we can’t and when we said we want a discharge then Dr Marya himself called on some junior doctor’s phone and said he wanted to talk to us. Inspite of telling everything he never turned up and said if you dont want to get the surgery done you can go and come back when you wish to.
My question being a doctor is this the way how operating doctor behaves with the patient? Is he so confident about his skills that without visiting the patient and doing a clinical examination he will directly see the patient in OT? Patients comes from far off places just on name of Dr Marya and is it good to transfer cases to junior doctor without patient’s knowledge and consent?
Medanta Medicity hospital management, you may a 7 star hospital and you may have state of the art interiors and facilities with advanced medical equipments but its all of no use if your doctors and staffs are not upto the mark. Its same like if the cook is overconfident and negligent he will make worst food even if he is working in a start hotel with advanced equipments and techniques.
For me its a no no for Medanta Medicity hospital
