I was a regular customer of Mega Cabs - Delhi. I must be travelling 3 - 4 times a month which is a good frequency. My travel was mainly from Vasundhara Enclave to Airport(35 km) or Vasundhara Enclave to Railway Station(20 km). Whenever I have requested for cabs for distances more than 20 km they have been prompt and punctual in providing taxis. My contact details and address are fed into their system.
Recently my car was not working, and I had to go to Noida which is 10 km from my residence. I called up Mega Cab a night before the day of travel, they confirmed my taxi in the morning(pls see the sms below):
"Dear customer, your booking No DEL0426 for May 07 2013 08:30 is confirmed; Thank you. Book a Megacab from your mobile. Pls visit https://goo.gl/94WT1"
Next day morning I waited for a long time but no sms or call from taxi driver came, at around 8:15 am I got a call from Easy Cab, the caller said they don’t have cabs available at that time, they can send a cab by 9 am if its okay with me, as I had no option so agreed to wait till 9 am, the caller promised cab will come by 9 am. Then I got the following sms:
"Dear customer, your cab 3677, chauffeur DHEERAJ KUMAR with cell 9711926860 will reach you as scheduled. Thank you - MEGACABS"
Till 9 am there was no cab, then I received another sms:
"Dear customer, your cab 3358, chauffeur MANOJ KR YADAV with cell 9650956177 will reach you as scheduled. Thank you - MEGACABS"
This time the driver called me and asked directions. I told him the direction to my place, but he sounded quite confused. I asked him where he was he said he was in Noida sec - 62, I asked him where is my residence he said Vasundhara in Ghaziabad, I told him my residence is Vasundhara Enclave, Delhi. Although my residence is only 8 km from sec-62 Noida the driver sounded reluctant to come. I said I need the taxi so he has to come. Reluctantly he said he will come, I waited and waited, and waited but there was no trace of the taxi. After half an hour the driver called and said that he is stuck in a jam in sec - 62 so he can’t come. I was already late and understood that I will have to make alternate arrangement so I said fine. I called up a few more taxi drivers whose no.s I had all said that for smaller distances like 10 km they don’t want to cater customer, also as it entailed crossing from Delhi to UP(Noida). If this is the case Mega Cab should have told me the previous night. Also if they treat their regular loyal customer(they have my travel details in their database) who travels long distances 3-4 times a month like this and cannot provide cabs for shorter distance then its a shame. I am changing my radio taxi provider - no more Mega, let me checkout Meru, Easycab etc
