Men are indeed from Mars

Being born and brought up in India, one is aware of the differences between the sexes as a child. There is a distinct difference in the way you and brother are treated by the same parents, the same relatives and the same neighbours.

’He is a boy’is the explanation given to a little girl for things she can’t do but her brother can or vice versa for that matter.

Even though we are made aware of the obvious difference one grows up and grows out of it.

So as grown-ups we expect to be just as similar as the people of the opposite sex.

But it ain’t so all the time. And not that it is necessarily in a bad sense, especially in a relationship, the difference is almost welcome.

To realise and accept this difference and make good use of it is what John Gray’s book Men Are From Mars and Women Are From Venus is all about.

The book emphasises and explains the significance of understanding and communicating with the opposite sex. It also points out to the fact that men and women react differently to a given situation. But given those differences, one has to learn to make the best of each relationship.

The author states his point with simple examples from everyday life. Even for those who already understand this difference, the book makes for interesting reading.
