There were five agents in Mib totally. Agent J , K, L and the other two. The other two (Agent T and B) were responsible in netting the aliens. You probably didn’t know about it. Yeah, I didn’t know about it, till recently…! ( A press member took images of their shaking hands on completion of the mission)
Getting kids into the correct moods according to your whims is a difficult task. It should qualify as a very highly paid profession. I mean by the time you fetch the camera and adjust the lenses, they are in a different mood or location. I have been trying for weeks to get my daughter into a Men in Black mood. And at the end, the only camera, I had handy was a mobile camera!
So I ended taking her to the studio nearby. Now that I have figured out how to get her into the suit, I am sure, I can get a collection on her soon. I did spend a few hundred for the jacket, but yes, it’s well worth the effort. I thought I’d first click snaps and then match the movie on MS. So here we are – new additions to the MiB team – agent T and B.
The story*: A top secret agency called MiB monitors extraterrestrials on earth. Each immigrant alien is given an id to keep track on earth. However, after inducting a new agent –agent J (Will Smith) agent K and J are pitted right in the battle for a universe.
An alien race wants control of a galaxy being protected by another race. The agents do not realize the location of the universe till they are informed that - Size is not everything. A galaxy can be the size of a marble. That makes you wonder (as shown in the movie, if we are part of an universe being used to play marbles by another race. I prefer the premise that the universe is one infinite hollow. That makes more sense. I mean after all at some point there must be an answer to matter and its origin.
Anyways, the aliens bring the battle to earth. And there’s a battleship which is giving earth a few hours deadline for surrendering the galaxy. Well, they did. Agent K Tommy Lee Jones) and J (Will Smith) never had it easier. They had a lot of help from agents T (Thakurman) and B (Bhavana). Actually, the exploits of agent T and B outdo K and J, but altogether that’s another story. Let’s wait for Part 3 if there ever is one to know the story.
Even though animation has been used to the maximum effect in the movie, it is the comic interactions between the agents which stands out. The animation only adds details to the progress in the movie.
How the agents battle and take control of a galaxy from the baddies is the rest of the story.
Acting: The movie is fun thanks to the one liners and then you also have some good wisecracking cops. But that’s again thanks due to the script writers. So yeah, go ahead and watch it if you haven’t as yet… Will Smith and Jones do quite a good job.
Trivia - Tommy Lee Jones seems tailor-made for Clint Eastwoodian roles. I mean even earlier, the roles which would have suited Eastwood were played by him. And this is one movie which Clint was supposed to play, but he refused and the automatic choice was Jones. (Other roles which Eastwood would have suited best -Double Jeopardy, The Fugitive, JFK)
Linda Fiorentino ‘won’ her role when she beat director Barry Sonnenfeld in a Poker game.
The ending show of the game of marbles is a reference to "The Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy" is the final sequence, where our universe is revealed to exist in a gaming marble.
