The men who killed gandhi - good one!!!

Recently I got hold of the book The men who killed Gandhi by Mohan Malgaonkar. It is a non fiction novel, telling the circumstances in which five people including Nathuram Godse made up their mind to kill Gandhi. How and when it started, how the plan was created and was executed. What were the flaws in the plan, how it backfired and how many times it backfired. Still it worked. The author has given all the dates and the different articles in support of his story. It is not very exiciting since is a non fiction but still if you have a knack of such literature you cannot leave this novel in between.

It gives you the insight of a different thinking, different from Gandhian, whether it was correct or not is not something worth discussing but knowing is definitely good. The character of Nathuram Godse, involvement of his brother and 3 others. The story is very well spun and the best part is unlike any fiction novel if you jump a few lines you cannot understand this novel, the happenings are very fast so keeps the grip of the novel.

We read in our history books that some lunatic killed Bapu, but seeing the other side of coin in this book is quite interesting.

The writer never favoured or tried to be partial towards any of the convicts but has portrayed them as they were and as they worked, all the strengths and weeknesses well spoken.

In all, many times we read books for a time pass. If you read it that way also it is a good time pass!!!
