Meru Cabs have the most unprofessional attitude and have truly lost any credibility they might have had.
In the beginning when the service had started they were a boon. Timely service, courteous drivers and correct fare but within 3 months there standard went down.
My first bad experience was in Bangalore - We were taking the cab to a relative’s place from where we were staying. it was a long drive so we decided to call a Meru. They are supposed to come, wait for 15 mins and post that start the meter and wait. Our fellow arrived 10 mins earlier and began hounding us to come down. It took us barely 5 mins to reach him, in which he had called us atleast 3 times.
Thinking of it as a one off incident we again booked a Meru to come back. This was a diffrent driver but even he reached 10 mins in advance. We were on our way out and told him to wait and if need be put the meter on. When we went out 10 mins later the cab was not there. What’s more the driver did not take our calls. Disgusted we took a rickshaw. Our relative told us that when they find a fare which will give them more money (usually airport), they take off unceremoniously dumping the passengers who have booked them.
We decided never to take Meru in Bangalore again. I still had faith in the Bombay Meru cabs. However even that was shattered. My in laws had to go to Nerul from Borivali and seeing the incessant rains I ordered a Meru for them. They confirmed my booking and even gave me a booking ID. When no message came from them 20 mins prior to pick up, I called them up. The call station told me that yes they had seen my request but they did not have any cabs available. When I asked them when were they planning to tell me this, they had no reply.
Whats more when I went out in the rain to get a regular cab for them, I saw some 15 Merus parked near my house all sitting ideal. When I called there complaints department, I was put through a zealous sounding girl, who said that they will definitly take action, and I will be called shortly to be informed as to why my request not taken up. Needless to say I never got called.
Just to check there ineffeciency levels, I booked a Meru on my trip to Bangalore 2 days back. it was for a drop to the airport. I also booked an Easy Cab. The Meru never arrived, nor any call came from their end.
Steer clear from them.
