Purchased this product on 13th August from another mode and to my surprise, I received Android 4.4.2 kitkat version with 8GB ROM. Its good than expected.
So my kid brother wanted this phone and the price was Rs.8500+. But I saw it go down to Rs.7799 and booked it. I strongly recommend everyone to see if the seller is covered by the’Flipkart Advantage’ badge, as it provides a 30 day replacement policy.
The estimated date of arrival was 24th but got it by 23rd(Sunday).
Was well packed and sealed. The contents were precise, as described in the description.
I opened the package the very same day carefully without simply just tearing it off as many do. Because just in case you have to return the product, they ask you to include everything from the package you’ve received including price tags, labels, original packing, freebies and accessories.
The first thing I did and I suggest everyone else to do is check for defects and damage. Though Flipkart is very much trustworthy, it’s better to be safe than sorry. Especially with electronics as it can have some manufacture defects.
I checked the charger, headset and back covers. Then I checked the phone. And I found that the left side of the touch screen was unresponsive. I tried switching the phone on and off and did a hard reset but it didn’t work. I switched off the phone, removed the battery and put all the contents in the box, the way it was.
After my product status was updated to “delivered” and I received my email invoice, I contacted Flipkart via their email option provided in the customer support page.
Please note that they can help only after you have received your invoices.
I got a reply to my email in mere 5 minutes stating that they would get back to me in 3 business days to resolve my issue.
Got a call from their executives on 25th. I explained them about the defect in the product and the troubleshooting methods I used. Unfortunately, they said that the item was out of stock from WS Retail and there would be no replacement. I would get my money refunded. I told them that I will get back to them after deciding.
The very next day on 26th, I saw that the product was back in stock and I immediately contacted the customer executives. They told me that they would get back to me by 28th. But they contacted me on 26th evening itself and said they would replace my product.
Got a replacement on 30th along with an acknowledgement slip, after the old product was verified and fortunately this time without any defect.
Coming to the phone(finally), it looks decent. The front end camera is okay-ish. The rear end camera is good. No problems with that.
The main drawback is the limited space for apps. If you are an app junkie and install lots of apps, skip this phone.
The phone came preloaded with Kit-Kat version which doesn’t have smart gestures. Jellybean does.
Battery back up is normal. Heavy usage drains the battery fast and heats up the phone a bit. But I guess any other phone does too.
Internet speed using 3g and wifi are pretty fast.
Pros
Good Performance
Good Camera. More than expected. Even selfie shots(front camera) are coming good in day light. I never expected this.
Display is too good
Call volume, ringtone volume was fine
Wifi, 3g, 2g is also working fine.
Cons
Less Phone storage for Apps. Even though they give 8GB ROM, I dont know the use of it. Only 0.89GB for Apps installation and in that 600 MB has been occupied by pre-installed apps. My Facebook app alone taking 100 MB and what to do with the remaining phone storage. Only few apps can be moved to other storage and that apps too take some space in the phone storage. I am getting insufficient storage space after installing some 12 apps. Just 80 MB phone storage remaining and it is unable to install new apps.
I was unable to sync FaceBook contacts. This option is not available in FB app and need to download an external app for that. Don’t know why this problem occurs for certain micromax mobiles. The same thing works fine in Canvas 2.2 A114 in my friends mobile.
Display is too good so that its eating the battery. But, it is manageable.
Verdict:
I feel it is real value for money. Anyhow, not recommended for app freaks who will be installing bunch of apps in mobile.
