There were messages popping up on my phone for the flash sale of the Micromax Canvas Spark that begins at sharp 12:00PM. I know most of the budget conscious consumers will be registering to purchase the handset AGAIN. The last flash sale took place on 13th May. A low priced Android smartphone, Canvas Spark has been launched against the likes of Moto E, Redmi 1S, Huawei Honor Bee and many other such handsets.
I got one from my sources(he sold it because he didn’t liked it) for my brother but when I started using it, the excitement was totally ruined. The handset does look impressively good in terms of appearance. It is light in weight. The spec sheet sounded good but when I actually used the handset for real, it disappointed. Even with 1.3GHz Quad Core processor the handset experienced some stutters and lags, and the camera isn’t that impressive but suitable for daylight photography(I have attached few camera samples shot from Spark). And selfies aren’t great. Its 4.7 qHD display is bright and sharp. And at times touch felt unresponsive. It runs on Android Lollipop 5.0, which is of course a plus point. The sound is not loud but decently good for a single room.
Everything looked fine, but after using the handset for 3 days I did experienced some lags while navigating through apps and playing games. The phone showed some signs of stutters occasionally. Moreover, typing messages felt irritating due to cluttered layout of the on-screen keyboard.
It does have flaws but for Rs. 4999, you cannot bargain for more. For such price, you are sure to get some added drawbacks too. After all, everything isn’t perfect. But If you are looking for a budget Android phone then Canvas Spark is a good option, only if you are least interested in Chinese brands.
