Windows 2000 Means Business

This is a huge improvement from Windows NT 4.0. It takes on the cartoonist look and feel of Windows 98/ME and has the backbone of Windows NT. I run a dual boot system with Windows 2000 on one partition and Windows ME on the other. I use Windows 2000 for internet, word processing, secure transactions, and graphic applications. I’ve said this before, and I’ll say it again. Windows 95/98 users should take the upgrade path to Windows ME or Windows XP (not yet released). Windows NT users should take the upgrade path to Windows 2000. Windows 95/98/ME do not support NTFS. Here are some of Windows 2000 key features:

Full 32-bit operating system

Minimize the chance of application failures and reboots.

Driver certification

Provides safeguards to assure you do not install non-certified drivers.

Dramatically Reduced Reboot Scenarios

Eliminates most scenarios that forced you to reboot in Windows NT 4.0 and Windows 95/98. Program installs also will not require reboots.

Microsoft Installer

Helps users install, configure, track, upgrade, and remove programs correctly, minimizing the risk of user error and loss of productivity.

Windows File Protection

Protects core system files from being overwritten by application installs. If a file is overwritten, Windows File Protection will replace that file with the correct version.

Faster performance

Provides 25 percent faster performance than Windows 95/98 on systems with 64 megabytes (MEG) or more.

Without a doubt, Windows 2000 is a well structured OS. Check the Microsoft web site for hardware & software compatibility before purchasing the OS. Be sure to backup all crucial data files before installing the OS.

I recommend this OS for business. Windows 98 & ME are for home use. This is NT 5.0, not an upgrade from Windows 98. Choose your OS wisely.
